Mission Trip to Puttur, India
January 2005
Four members from Christ Church UCC, Temple; one member from Calvary United Methodist, Mohnton; and one member from Little Swatara Church of the Brethern, Bethel visited the Good Shepherd Mission in Puttur, India for two weeks.
Puttur is located near the south eastern shore, about 60 miles inland from Chennai (Madras). Chennai is one of the coastal cities of India that was hit by the devastation of the tsunami in the Indian Ocean.
The Good Shepherd Mission includes a hospital, orphanage, and retirement home. The Good Shepherd Mission is Lutheran, and is headed by Brother Henry Bhasker. Brother Henry is a third generation Christian, whose father was a Lutheran pastor.
