This scripture search tool uses the New American Standard Bible (NASB) and the King James Version (KJV), which are the versions provided by our web publishing system. Unfortunately due to copyrights we are not currently able to offer the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) on our web page.
The most common translation used at Christ Church and used within the United Church of Christ is the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV). It is also the translation found in most mainline denominations, seminaries, and in modern Christian Bible scholarship. The NRSV was published in 1989.
The NRSV is newly revised from the Revised Standard Version (RSV), which is still used at Christ Church from time to time. The RSV was first published in 1946, and its most recent revision was in 1971.
The precursor to the RSV was the American Standard Version (ASV), published in 1901.
The NRSV and the RSV are translated from the original languages. They are patterned after the King James Version (KJV), which was published in 1611. The KJV is used from time to time here, as well.
Our second grade Sunday school students receive a Contemporary English Version (CEV) Bible. Confirmation students receive a New Revised Standard (NRSV) Study Bible with the Apocrypha.
