The Wedding Rite
The essence of marriage is a covenanted commitment that has its foundation in the faithfulness of God's love. The wedding ceremony is the glad occasion on which two people unite as husband and wife in the mutual exchange of covenant promises. The bond and covenant of marriage is a gift of God, a holy mystery in which man and woman become one flesh, an image of the union of Christ and the church.
The above is adapted from the United Church of Christ Book of Worship (1986),
published by the UCC Office for Church Life and Leaderhip.
If you would like to know more, Christ Church provides an extensive Wedding Ceremony brochure, which should hopefully answer the majority of your questions. The brochure includes information on such topics as: pre-marital counseling, the church's seating capacity, throwing of bird seed, fees, and incorporation of music. To request a Wedding brochure, please contact the church office at Office@ucctemple.org or 610-929-2020. If leaving a message or e-mailing, please include your name, your fiancé's/fiancee's name, and your mailing address. If there is a specific date that you are considering, please include that information, as well.
